January 2010...2ft of snow and climbing!

Ok so we are well into the New Year, day 7 actually to be precise, and everything in the Scottish Borders has come to a standstill.....
The schools are shut, roads are closed and my car is somewhere in the front drive under a pile of snow. The kids have got cabin fever and are climbing the walls, particularly as the xbox and TV have been banned and to be honest I can understand when they say "there is only so much sledging we can do in a day". The greyhounds are refusing to go outside and when they do they both do a very good impression of 'Bambi on Ice'...greyhounds are just not equipt for arctic conditions. The elderly Jack Russell has 'snow blindness' affecting the little sight she has left and prefers to do her business right on the door step which immediately freezer to a yellow sheet of ice!
To top it all we are running low on groceries, (especially loo roll), dog food, milk etc. I have placed an order with Tesco hoping that although we can't get out they will miraculously be able to get in by helicopter or something - who knows!
To be honest, on the first day of the holidays I thought it would be great to have loads of snow and all of us were merrily singing "let it snow, let it snow, let it snow" , all I can say now is .....be careful what you wish for! X
